14 March, Day 69, Bangkok-Singapore

Our wake up call came at 0430 and by 0515 we were on the bus to the Bangkok airport. Managing to stay awake and somewhat alert, we boarded the correct Thai Airways flight to Singapore. The service was very good and the breakfast wasn't spicy. (I added my own Thai chili) With a time change, though this is a North to South flight) we arrived Singapore at 1105. A bus was waiting and we had a quick trip through the city to the ocean terminal and boarded the Amsterdam. Lying across from us was a Crystal ship. It was raining and time was short so we unpacked and remained on board. At 1530 (3:30pm) we backed from our pier, pivoted 180ยบ in the narrow basin, and headed out the narrow opening into the harbor. When the Amsterdam sounded her horn to depart, many people on the Crystal Serenity emerged from their cabins to watch and many Amsterdam passengers were on their verandas or promenade decks waving good-bye. Only one person on the Crystal waved back, the others stood stone faced and watched. So, if you cruise Crystal, are you too elite to wave to people on another ship? That was the feeling many Amsterdam people came away with. Some of our passengers who have traveled Crystal report meeting many arrogant people onboard. Here we even wave to each other.
