A hazy day again and we used the first part of the morning to pack a couple of bags, then went ashore for a couple of items. By 2pm we were leaving the ship for the Excelsior Hotel on Hong Kong island. After checking in we went next door to the 4 story shopping mall then took to the streets. The narrow busy streets were lined with tiny shops, restaurants, massage parlors, custom clothiers, pharmacies, convenience stores; everything imaginable shops and crowed with people, neon signs and dim alleyways. The smells of Asian cooking, Asian and Indian musics and the babble of many languages made the experience a great taste of Hong Kong at night. We couldn't stay long and had to dash back to the hotel for our group dinner.
We met our travel group of 18 for a buffet dinner in the hotel restaurant which overlooks Victoria Harbor. The dinner offered fresh oysters, crayfish, sushi, iced scallops, cheeses, salads, lamb, roast beef, Chinese roast pork, Tandoori Chicken, Peking Duck, fish and several other dishes. I just listed those I tasted. Late into the dinner the Hong Kong 8pm light show went on over the city which was fun to see from a different angle. We waded through a huge dessert bar then waddled back to the room for a quiet night's rest. This gave us a chance to get to know our travel partners better and we were pleased with everyone in our party. All are adventuresome. Because of an early day to come we returned to our room to re-evaluate our baggage. Because of the limited storage space available for the next 3 days, we have to have one small bag for clothing and personal items with the clothing for the following days in another bag to be stowed away. That accomplished we set alarm clocks and turned in.
