Galapagos, Guayaquil (Ecuador), Lima (Peru)
We sailed early morning from Floreana Island for Baltra and Bachas Beach. The wake up call was 0630. We finished our packing, placed luggage outside our cabin and went for breakfast. Next came out-processing; paying for on-board charges, completing questionnaires and filling envelopes with gratuities for the crew. We were out of our cabin at 0945 and by 1030 were in the Zodiac headed for shore. A short bus ride to the “military” airport, an hour long wait then the boarding of a TAME (Ecuadorian airline owned by the military) Airbus. 1 ½ hour flight to Guayaquil. More in-processing/out-processing and at 1820 a TACA flight to Lima, Peru. At 2020 we were in Lima, met by our bus and made our way back on board. A large banner reading “Welcome Home!” was hung from the upper deck. Room service for a real meal. A surprise awaited us in our stateroom; our two missing suitcases had returned via the Prinsendam. One safely aboard and after a delay with the port authorities, we slipped the hawse and made for sea.
