at Sea
A 7am walk of 2 miles followed by a small breakfast started the day. This being a sea day, enroute Manta, Ecuador, we can really begin to develop the on board routine. The seas are light today with a small swell and very light waves; few white caps. The morning sky is overcast and the temp about 80. The humidity remains high.
Sometime tonight or early tomorrow morning we will cross the Equator. There will not be an event of this now, due to the late time and an early arrival in port. Most likely there will be a crossing celebration at the next crossing of the line. As we have already been accepted as Shellbacks by King Neptune, and have kissed the fish, this can wait. The polliwogs will receive a certificate allowing them safe passage until confirmed by Neptune at the next crossing of the line.
This afternoon we will be spend a little time packing as tomorrow we leave the ship in Manta for a side trip of 4 days. January 12, 13, 14 and 15 we will be out of contact and there will be no posts to this blog. The afternoon of the 15th we will be returning to the ship in Callao, Peru. That is if all goes according to plan. Also in Callao we hope to have a reunion with two of our suitcases.
