Day 25, January 29, at sea

      The Cook Islands

After a restful night at sea with gentle pitching and very little rolling we hit the decks for a haircut at 8 and then a light breakfast. Then there was a lecture and slideshow about our next two ports of call followed by a talk by former astronaut B.G. (Ret) Charles Duke. There was time for doing some laundry, delivering photos, visiting in the Neptune Lounge, charting our noon position and so on.
At noon we showed a speed of 15knots over 15,500' of water with nothing man made on the horizon. We have made 6,841 nm since leaving Ft. Lauderdale, 434 nm since leaving the pier at Papeete and look ahead to 263 nm to our next anchorage which we expect to make at 0700 tomorrow.
Attire tonight is formal and since we are in the tropics yet, my white dinner coat is coming out. There have been three previous formal nights which we missed due to having made a side trip to the Galapagos and then having been restricted to quarters for the gastrointestinal affair. We have declined two invitations to the Captain's table and cocktail party due to travel and the GSI.
